Top 5 Spots To Visit In Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of the worlds most popular tourist spots and I can personally say it is a MUST on your destination list. You can spend countless hours walking the narrow streets, cruising down the canals and embracing yourself in the Dutch culture however whether you are there for a quick trip or a lengthy few days, my Top 5 spots to visit in Amsterdam will ensure you make the most of your time in this captivating city!

1. Heineken Experience
If anyone visited Amsterdam and did not experience the Heineken Brewry your trip would not be fullfilled. Due to huge popularity i definitely would advise buying tickets before hand. Central and easy to find the, the building is filled an outstanding and interactive tour of the history of Heineken, the brewying process of the iconic beer (and yes it feels like a Charlie and The Choclate Factory scene), the signature green logo and needless to say you wont be leaving the tour thirsty! An unmissable, filled experience you just have to take. Many tourists have ticked this visit of their bucket lists so make sure you do too!

2. Anne Frank House
For me, this was one of my favourite parts about visiting Amsterdam. Growing up in a family who love all things history and having read Anne Franks Diary, i ensured i had my tickets pre booked (unless you want to get up very early and wait in a never ending que). The Anne Frank House is situated on the Jordaan River and is rather undistinguishable however with the hoardes of tourists taking pictures outside you will be able to spot it in seconds. When inside, although packed full with people, it it so overwhelming how the feeling of despair and saddness really does fill each and every room. It provides to all who experience, an emotional and affecting story as well as being educational. As intrigued and touched as I am by the story of this house, it is very hard to put all onto paper so i strongly feel this is an experience one must encounter themselves as you truly cannot embrace the full grasp from reading about it.

3. Amsterdam Icebar
If you are looking to visit the coolest bar in the world (literally) then Amsterdam Icebar is the place for you. When you first enter please dont get used to the cosy warmth of the waiting bar as this will not last for long, however once the tail some story of Willem Barentsz and his Mecury ship of 1596 is told you will be grinfully graced with a coat and gloves preparing you for what you are about to enter. Even with these on i still felt nippy so ensure you wrap up warm. Once the doors open and the cold breeze strikes the excitement for this experience really begins! When inside expect everything ICE! ice walls, ice furniture, ice art and even your 2 free drinks are provided in glasses made from ice.

4. Vondelpark

Vondelpark is the most famous park in all of Amsterdam! If you are visiting when the weather will be sunny and warm then this is the perfect spot for a picnic, a romantic stroll or even to just relax and take in the colourful atmosphere. With 3km of park to reach there is so much to take in ranging from the 'Sculture of Pablo Picasso' as sculpture by Picasso himself  to' T Blauwe Theehuis' were you can eat and drink. This was one of my favourite spots and would really recommend that you explore this cultural filled scene too.

5. Canal Tours

If your tired of walking or just want to experience floating down the canals of Amsterdam then these boat tours, in my opinion, were definitely the way to check out the city's best tourist spots. An hour filled memorable journey that allows you to hop on hop off and i think would be perfect for those visiting first time or as a romantic guesture. This is a must when in Amsterdam.
